The the term “deaf oralists” refers to deaf people that primarily use oral language as a means of communication. The deaf oralists are been brought up with an approach to education called “oralismo”, that is focuses on the teaching of oral language and reading labialand, rather than on the use of sign language. The goal the oralismo is teach the deaf to speak and listen to how people with hearing, so as to integrate them into society hearing. The deaf oralists can use sign language only so limited or not use it at all, and may prefer verbal communication, lip reading and other support tools to communicate with others.
