Initial signs

The initial signs they are a type of signs used in the language of the signs in which an initial sign represents a word or a general concept and is then further specified by the later signs. Initial signs are used to simplify the communication and speed up the flow of information, especially when it comes to complex topics, or describe complex events. For example, in the Italian language of signs, the initial sign for “person” may be a sign that represents the shape of the human body, which is then further specified by other signs to indicate the location, sex, or other characteristics of the person in question.
