The LIBRAS (Lingua Brasileira de Sinais) is the sign language brazilianused by the deaf community of Brazil as a primary means of communication. The LIBRAS is a natural language, with the grammar, syntax and vocabularyused for to express concepts and ideas through the combination of gestures, facial expressions, and body movements. The LIBRAS it was officially recognised as the national sign language in Brazil in 2002, and the brazilian government has adopted policies to promote the use and dissemination.
